Yes, that IS a Gundam-branded cell phone with a Zaku head as a charging station. That's... unbelievably cool.

Ohayocon was pretty ok. I guess I would say that the con itself kind of sucked, but the hangouts were great. I ran a couple panels and wandered around most of the time. I also participated in anime name that tune (which I run at 5 out of the 6 cons in Ohio) and got completely destroyed. That was awesome.

It was also Grace's 19th b-day on Sunday. Presents were given (a new cell phone, a book, a nobuta pig), dinner was eaten. Good times \o/

Anyway, back to the normal grind.

  • New Albums: Otsuka Ai, Ayumi Hamasaki, B'z and Bump of Chicken. All good, but only the bump of chicken one is really blowing my mind. Sample mp3 anyone?

  • Scott Pilgrim 4 was fabulous. OMG It's Knive's dad!!! :O

  • I could use another person or two for the ohayocon room. Any takers?

  • I'm pretty short on cash, but I ended up with a decent pile of gift cards for restaurants for xmas, so at least I'll be eating good while I'm poor xD

  • I finished watching Dream Again. Decent show, but bloody hell that was a bad ending :/

Anyway, I'm always around, and life is really good. Give me a call for hangouts!

Quick update on life.

Thursday was Janie's b-day. Jim/Grace/I bought a fuckton of Chinese food and went over to her house for feasting and hat-making. Good times!

Grace/I were supposed to go to Chicago this weekend for lateniteslacker's xmas party. We didn't quite make it due to a bad combination of weather and financial issues. Instead we stuck around Ann Arbor. This weekend was our 1 month anniversary \o/ The celebration involved a huge amount of homecooked lasagna, green tea mousse cake, failing at Guitar Freaks/Drum mania, and Nobuta.

And that's about it. If anyone wants to hang out this week, poke me online and I should be around.

From the Univision-broadcasted Republican presidential debate: Asked what he would do with Castro, who has reigned through nine different U.S. presidents, Fred Thompson said, grinning: "I'm going to make sure that he didn't survive 10 U.S. presidents."

Wait. Your big sales line here is that if you're president, you're going to go kill Castro? That's actually what garners support among republicans these days? That's great guys. Castro isn't a real great guy and he's certainly not kind to either Bush or the US government in his rhetoric, but wtf =/

Chavez's campaign platform didn't involve a promise to kill Bush. We're supposed to be above that kind of shit. At least the liberal side of the country is I hope.

Any locals interested in a pirate party? By pirate party, I mean a gathering where everyone brings ALL of their external hard drives, cds/dvds, etc and we trade massive amounts of stuffs. Pirate hats and bandannas may be a part of this, I do not know. THere would definitely be curry or some other such group food. All would be welcome.

Best buy had 750gig seagate externals on sale for $200 last night and Grace/I ended up buying one to share, so yeah. Time to fill it up! network247!! You and I really need to sync up at some point. I have a pile of HalCali pvs for you! :D

The moving trip was kind of a disaster, but we all lived and I'm back at work on time (though I didn't make it into the office). Sel rented a 4'x4'x8' trailer (3.6 cubic meters). I walked into her apartment, saw the boxes and went "UHHHHHHHHHHH". We ended up getting a truck with 3x the space and filled it nearly to the brim. The drive from Columbus, IN to Bethlehem, PA took 14 hours total, between rest stops, gas and food breaks. All but 2 hours of that was in the dark. We finally pulled into her mom's place around 6am.

Sunday was spent unpacking the car, hitting up an enormous and really good all you can eat sushi joint. Sushi elitists on my f-list, I know good sushi and am totally skeptical of all you can eat sushi places, but this place was pretty damn good. Do not be skeptical!

One delayed flight and a 5 hour drive later, I made it home and slept. That was around 5am. Back at work at 9 >_<;;;; Argggh!

So yeah, I'm back. A lot went wrong, but it was still a really fun trip, and OMG SUSHI. I swear, Grace and I probably destroyed $90+ each in sushi at Ann Arbor prices. All that for $28/person >:D Winnar is us.

Shonen Knife was sweet. There were apparently 3 opening bands, but we missed the first one. The 2nd one was called Verona Grove, and were pretty damn good for an emo punk band. The 3rd was a decent modern rock group called The Juliet Dagger. We spent most of their set playing pool (we == me/Grace/Janie/Nick (Janie's brother)/Anna (Nick's gf)). Shonen knife played a pretty good set including a bunch of pretty solid new tracks.

ok, the downside. The venue is in Detroit. What do we know about Detroit? dangerous as all fuck. We parked in a well lit area directly across from the bar, in front of a hospital, 3 blocks from a police station. We came out and my car window was shattered, and Grace/I's coats and her purse were stolen. Awesome! And by awesome, I mean GOD DAMN IT.

Not much money was lost at least. In the meantime I have no rear passenger side window, Grace has no cell or purse, and we're about to leave for the moving trip for selurnis. This sounds like the start of an adventure; possibly the kind that you wake up from and find you have no kidneys.
